Performance and Drawbacks
The first thing to note is that not all Pampers are made equal. There are European designed ones and American designed ones. If you are looking at a packet of Swaddlers or Cruisers, you are looking at the American styles. This review focuses on the European styles listed above.
We tested the New Baby, Baby Dry and Active Fit Nappies on a range of newborns, infants and toddlers.
Generally the first thing that you notice about the Pampers, irrespective of the type you are using, is that they are very thin.
Their thinness doesn’t affect their absorbency though. Of our six Best Buys baby testers we had only one who experienced a couple of instances of leakage which was over the top of their nappy.
We tested both the Baby Dry and Active Fit Overnight and they both did the job effectively over a 12 hour sleep. The New Baby range were also effective in containing soft infant poo.
One thing that our Best Buys parents consistently noted was the generous size, it is better to go smaller than larger; if they are a bit too big they will leak (as you would expect).
All our tester parents liked the super stretchy tabs and snug fit. Personally I liked the Active Fit, they seemed just that bit lighter and more flexible than your average nappy.
The only drawback that we could identify is that you can feel the absorbent crystals through the nappy in the Active Fit range. This is only a minor complaint and I guess its the trade off you make for having both a slim and absorbent nappy.
Conclusion
After trying them out it’s easy to see why Pampers are a parent-favourite in the UK and Europe. All of our tester parents said they would happily use Pampers again.
Availability of the European style Pampers is limited in Australia. You can purchase them in bulk directly from the distributor.
Pampers make it easy for all parents to give them a test run by offering a sample pack of any 10 nappies (both style and size) for $10.00 including postage.

Pros: Fantastic nappy and super cheap. These nappies have never leaked, not even for sloppy poos. They have cute seseme street characters and nice fit.
Cons: none
Overall: I have found these nappies to be the best out of all of the nappies i have tried – even better than huggies. These nappies have never leaked and last all night. They are so absorbent they don’t even leak with runny poos. We have never experienced any kind of nappy rash or redness like other cheaper nappies. They are a comfortable fit and not bulky like most ‘absorbent’ nappies and have cute seseme street designs that all kids love.
